Why we focus on career development
Ultimately, the disconnect between our education system and the workforce perpetuates the status quo by establishing a broken talent pipeline of young people whose skills don’t align with today’s careers.
When teachers ask students questions, they often look for a specific answer. Yet, we need people who can find innovative answers to new and complex problems rather than respond to questions that we already have the answers to. Businesses across the country confirm that graduates are underprepared to enter the professional world without the critical skills they need to launch their careers.
Despite increasing demand for a highly effective workforce, the traditional education system fails to equip students with critical skills to tackle our world’s most pressing issues, leaving a widening gap between school and career as our youngest leaders join the workforce.

Meanwhile, parents deserve to have the freedom to choose high-quality schools that fit their student’s unique needs.
Charter schools that are publicly funded but independently run provide the opportunity to serve the unique needs of local communities. Studies confirm that charter schools deliver the programming, support, and results that families seek for their students.
At a time when shrinking budgets are forcing school districts to make difficult cuts, painting a bleak picture for public charter schools, we envision a world where diverse, charter school alumni leverage their collective genius to lead change and promote more equitable systems.
How your gift will elevate our alumni, our families, and our community
The Ganas Network runs a paid fellowship that acts as a launchpad and accelerator for diverse, early-career professionals who attended a public charter school by offering them the opportunity to participate in a program aimed at building their career skills, growing their networks, and leading change in policy affecting access to high-quality education.
As a Ganas Network Fellow, participants have the opportunity to:
- Learn – Fellows dive into the political context, public policies, and community actions that impacted their public charter school experience.
- Launch – Through group workshops and one-on-one coaching, fellows develop the skills and tools to lead in their personal and professional lives, build their brand, and engage their network.
- Accelerate – Aside from developing a strategic career plan, each fellow will receive a certificate and a $1,000 stipend upon completion of the fellowship.
- Act – Fellows will lead change in their communities by participating in public actions to further the discussion on education policy.
What your donation will support
The Ganas Network Fellowship costs approximately $3,000 per fellow. The group workshops, one-to-one coaching, professional development, and advocacy opportunities play a crucial role in propelling our fellows into their leadership positions so that they may tap into the enormous power they hold to create a positive impact in the communities where they choose to live and work.
