The Ganas Network
A Public Charter School Alumni Empowerment Group
The Spanish verb “Ganar” means “to win.” Ganas, a derivative of Ganar, is a noun that translates to “a strong desire.” The Ganas Network strives to organize, support, and activate a national network of ethnically diverse public charter school alumni as charter school advocates. To this end, the Network helps charter alumni develop the soft skills to win in their burgeoning careers and the knowledge and desire to become lifelong charter school advocates.
Over the next two years, The Ganas Network strives to become a multistate network of 150 charter school alumni who are trained and activated to defend and promote the importance of public charter schools and their permanent place within the fabric of K-12 education.
This four-month Fellowship offers public charter school alumni the opportunity to share their education success with local, state, and national policymakers. In addition to gaining access to the leaders who shape and make policy, Fellows receive $1,000 and participate in a program aimed at building their workforce skills, growing their professional networks and developing a deeper understanding of policy affecting public charter schools.
