Destiny Hurtado

My name is Destiny Hurtado, a rising senior at The University of the South majoring in Psychology and double minoring in Education and Business.

As a future educator with many years of experience working with young children and helping them improve their fluency when reading, I aspire to one day be able to make a difference in children’s lives by being the best teacher I can be in motivating students to be excited to learn and allowing them to make real-life connections.

Family is one of my core values because coming from a family where neither of my parents had the opportunity to attend college, being a first-generation college student is a huge deal for a brighter future. I am where I am today because my family has pushed me to persevere through the obstacles I have faced throughout my life. Also, big thanks to YES Prep North Forest that helped grant me the opportunity to attend a four-year university allowing me to discover who I am as a person and what I am truly passionate about – helping out others.
