As an aspiring School Psychologist, I stand with multilingual students. My advocacy and commitment to promoting equity stem from my personal experiences as a multilingual and first-generation student.
I graduated from the University of Denver in 2023 with a bachelor’s in Psychology. Currently, I am an Ed.S School Psychology graduate student at the University of Denver. The school psychology field is largely dominated by white practitioners yet the students they serve, more specifically in Denver Public Schools, are often from minoritized backgrounds. As a Latina in a white-dominated field, I am aware of my role in fostering advocacy, social-justice, and helping students be seen.
DSST GVR taught me the impact that community can have on a student’s life. My teachers inspire my approach to school psychology, and I strive to bring the same level of care, advocacy, and encouragement to the students I serve.
