Layla Herrera Saucedo
Layla Herrera graduated with her bachelor’s in International Business and plans on going back to her high school, DSST Public Schools, to become an apprentice teacher. During this time, she will be in the classroom with a teacher, while working towards her master’s in Education.
As a first-generation student, she wants to be able to help and inspire other first-generation students to not give up. During her years at CU Denver, she was a mentor through the Mentor Collective program where she mentored incoming students and guided them with any academic questions they had. Layla also liked helping others outside of school. She is a part of the production team at her church where she helps with creating any visuals needed.
Recently Layla was crowned Mexicana Universal Colorado 2021, she wants to use this platform as a place to advocate for education and use her voice to speak about how no one no matter what gender or background should be declined an education.
