Maria Rojas
I am a current junior at The University of The South on the path to earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Biology on the Nursing track.
I am also a current fellow for the Sewanee Diabetes Prevention Program which helps serve the surrounding communities. I am passionate about healthcare and how nutrition plays a role in it, and I hope to earn a master’s in nursing upon completing my degree at Sewanee.
With a little over two years of experience working with adults from rural Tennessee, I help diabetic community members engage in an affordable healthy lifestyle and learn more about type two diabetes. I aspire to one day be able to implement more programs in which community members can learn about the way nutrition affects their health.
I graduated from Yes Prep North Forest in 2020, and being part of the Yes Prep family has driven my interest in serving underrepresented communities. Being a part of such a diverse community I have been able to better develop my communication and leadership skills.
