Mehdi Ahmadi

I am currently working on a research project to complete a meta-analysis of the host response to SARS-CoV infections. Having graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a double major in Integrative physiology and Computer Science, I was in the perfect position to utilize my knowledge to work on this bioinformatics research. 

The first time I was introduced to data science and bioinformatics was while attending the DSST Green Valley Ranch charter high school. During my junior and senior years in high school, the school allowed us the opportunity to work with bioinformaticians from the University of Colorado at Denver to get a taste of bioinformatics. Fascinated by the experience, during senior year, I decided to work on a bioinformatics project looking for undiscovered genes and pathways involved in lung cancer. 

Through the accumulation of these experiences, I’ve come to realize my interest in research and medicine. I hope to continue using my data science and bioinformatics skills to continue working on discovering novel insights about diseases and treatments.
