She also manages and plans college seminar lessons for 9th and 10th-grade students and serves as one of the school’s 10th-grade advisors.
Nuvia received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado Boulder, with a double major in Political Science and Spanish with an emphasis on interpretation and translation. Nuvia, is proud to be the first in her family to complete a college degree. While at CU Boulder, Nuvia was involved in extracurricular activities and programs, including the Pi Lambda Chi Latina Sorority, Inc., where she served as Treasurer, Community Service Chair, and Recruitment Chair. She also served as President of the Multicultural Greek Council and was their university spokesperson, overseeing eight fraternities and sororities. This role provided her with experience in student affairs and event management.
Additionally, Nuvia was a student employee with the McNeill Academic Program, where she worked as an Instructor’s Assistant and Front Office Assistant. This provided her with experiences in undergraduate academic and student affairs. In her junior year, she was a Fellow with the Colorado Latino Leadership, Advocacy and Research Organization Fellowship Program, where she interned with Representative Monica Duran, giving her the opportunity to work in state government and policy.
Her experiences in education have given Nuvia a passion for educational equity. Nuvia intends to continue pursuing this passion at a university and/or a nonprofit focused on college access and success. She also intends to earn a master’s degree in Higher Education, Education Policy, Student Affairs, or a similar subject to continue expanding knowledge and skills as an educational opportunity professional.
